Eduardo Alfaro- Archaeology guide
Eduardo Alfaro is a resident of San Jose Succotz Village. Eduardo worked at Buena
Vista, Nohoch Eck and Tipu in the Cayo District doing excavation work at these Maya sites. In 1981 he worked at Altun Ha for three years doing restoration on the
structures. At Santa Rita he spearheaded the restoration for one year. Eduardo worked for 16 years in
Xunantunich from 1986 to 2002; during this period he also completed a
two month course in Honduras at Copan, where he learned other structure restoration methods. While working in Xunantunich Eduardo guided there for the 16 years
as part of his duties. Since 2002 he has
been working as a licensed tour guide
specializing in archaeological sites in Belize.
Lenny Gentle: Naturalist, archaeology guide, cave guide
Lenny Gentle has an associate degree in
building and civil engineering from Belize
Technical College and 5 certificates from the City Guilds
Institute of London. In 1998 he obtained the general tour guide certificate from the Belize Tourist Board. In 2004 he obtained a special cave guide certificate
from the Belize Tourist Board and institute of Archeology.
Lenny was the main guide, for the expedition in the Chiquibul National Park. In 2002 he was a field naturalist and tour guide trainer
in Las Cuevas Research station
for Friends for Conservation and Development
and Conversation International (Guatemala).
Lenny also assisted the Belize River Keeper
with logistics promoting river
conservation. He is a trainer for the Q'uechi Maya Tour Guide in Alta Vera Paz, Guatemala with support from Conservation International.
He organized the PACT Challenge 2005 expedition in the Chiquibul Forest for the Protected Areas Conservation Trust (PACT) and FCD. In 2006 he coordinated the installation
and monitoring of the Scarlet Macaw Artificial Nest Pilot Project for the Chalillo Dam Hydroelectric Project in the Chiquibul forest.
He also conducted a wild life impact analysis for Ara Macao resort on the Placencia Peninsula and resort on northern Ambergris Caye. Lenny is a certified trainer for best management practices for sustainable tourism sponsored by Programmer for Belize & Rainforest Alliance. In 2006 he obtained a certificate in protected areas management and landscape ecology from (CATIE) Centro Agronomico Tropical de Investigacion y Enseñanza.
