Gliss Penados – Naturalist, archaeological, caving guide
Gliss is a Yucatec Maya descendant from the village of San Jose Succotz. He has over fourteen years of tour guiding experience and enjoys sharing
the natural and cultural beauty of Belize with all peoples. He is an avid hiker, caver and naturalist and above all has a passion and deep respect for the Mayan
world. He has received training in tour guiding jungle survival with the Royal Marine commandos, Cave & Wilderness Search Rescue, advanced Maya Civilization and specialized training for guiding at Actun Tunichil
Muknal. Gliss has received training in the USA in park service at Mesa Verde National park, Colorado and mountain bike training in Mohab, Utah. In addition he has
been a member of a local environmental organization since 1989 and from 93-97 worked for an archaeological project at the site of Xunantunich carried out by UCLA and Penn.
University.
Edward Alfaro – archaeological, Naturalist, caving guide
Edward has a life long passion for the ancient Mayan history and the natural world. Edward has broad knowledge of tour guiding. He has training in leadership, human resource management,
communication, guiding, tourism development, service development, community cultural issues, natural science and Mayan archeology. He has led caving tours for the
past five years and has developed a special interest for cave archaeology and the protection of cave environment. He has also worked as a volunteer doing research on host
plants for butterfly species. He lives in the village of San Jose Succotz.
Derric Chan- Naturalist Guide
Derric Chan was born in Succotz Village, he started his career at the prestigious Belize Zoo, where he developed a vast knowledge of Belizean wildlife. Derric also worked eight years with the Belize Audubon Society as a Director for six Protected Areas and as an Environmental Educator. More recently, he was involved
in river mapping and aquatic life monitoring. Through out his 15 years of experience Derric has always been in tune with nature and the natural and cultural history of Belize.
During all this years his main hobbies have been trekking and tour guiding. He does his work with pride
and respect for natural and cultural heritage of
